“Music is very essential for intellectual , emotional & spiritual development of mankind - L Subramaniam”
In 2005, violin icon Dr. L Subramaniam and Bollywood playback legend Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam started The Subramaniam Foundation.
The foundation is a registered charitable trust. We believe in the power of music to affect change, and believe that everyone deserves access to it. To make this happen, the Subramaniam Foundation engages in these primary activities:
Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival (LGMF)
Lakshminarayana Global Centre of Excellence (LGCE)
“Every child should get the opportunity to listen or learn music and benefit from that. - L Subramaniam”
The LGCE is on a path to shape higher education in music in India. To that end, it offers BA and MA courses in music along with top institutes like Jain University and Vishwakarma University. The goal of the LGCE is to offer the highest form of training. Therefore, unlike any other music degree in the country, it focuses on performance and teaching.
Learn MoreDr. L Subramaniam started the LGMF in 1992, in memory of his father and guru, Professor V Lakshminarayana. Its central idea is to give everyone a chance to enjoy diverse musical styles. To that end, the festival showcases some of the world’s best artists, and presents live concerts that are free and open to all. So far, millions of listeners from over 22 countries have attended.
Learn MoreIn the last 30 years, great artists from across the globe have graced LGMF to make it one of the premier festivals in the global music arena.
