Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts
The Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SAPA) was started in November 2007 in Bangalore. This global institute for the performing arts is the brainchild of India’s foremost violinist, Dr. L. Subramaniam and vocalist Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam. It has been their dream to have an international institute in India that imparts high quality education in the areas of music, dance, and other performing arts.
The academy’s vision is to identify, nurture, train and mentor those who want to pursue a career in the various performing arts, or those who pursue an art form for the sake of personal joy and satisfaction.
SaPa focuses on special teaching methods for children, through the SaPa Baby program, to help them discover the enjoyment of art, and develop a deep love for artistic endeavours.
SaPa also has special programs for professional musicians of various cultural backgrounds to learn elements of Indian music including improvisation, composition, melodic and rhythmic structures. It organises special workshops and interactive sessions with creative personalities from all walks of life, from world famous blues musicians to instrument makers and encourages its students to understand and explore various artistic possibilities.
SaPa is headed by Bindu Subramaniam and is based in Sanjaynagar, Bangalore.
The Subramaniam Foundation provides a number of need based and work scholarships to talented students of the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts.
